Kākano Kids

In School Nature Programme

Kākano Kids - planting the seed for tamariki to connect with, learn in and develop a love of te taiao, nature.

Poipoia te kakano kia puawhai - nurture the seed and it will blossom

The Kākano Kids Nature Education Programme inspires the connection between tamariki and te taiao, nature. A connection that strongly supports wellbeing, curriculum learning and a love of nature leading to care and kaitiakitanga.

Through two to three* in-school sessions across the term we introduce, engage and inspire ākonga through hands-on experiences in nature at school. While at the same time showing kaiako how easy it can be to use nature as their classroom and co-teacher.

The programme is designed to be easily continued using the curriculum-linked Nature Everyday Resource, for the greatest benefit to tamariki and teachers.

Kākano Kids is perfect for primary school years 1-6

Do you have a year 7 or older class? Contact Kathy about our senior sessions with a focus on holistic wellbeing and belonging.
